MOSSY OAK 12-in-1 Multitool

In a world dominated by Leatherman, Gerber, and Victorinox, not to mention other competitors, I seem to often gravitate to the budget category. And sometimes you actually find a gem.  It was marked down and I was able to purchase it for around $16, a truly 'budget' price in a budget category.  Often, as in any purchase, you 'get what you pay for.'  Yet, sometimes you find a quality item others look down on simply because it is in that 'budge' category.  The Mossy Oak 12-in-1 Multitool is just one of those finds.  It is now a regular EDC for me along with my SOG Powerpint multitool.  It's an all steel construction (the blade is 440C, I think) reminding me of my US Military "Demo Knife".  It has heft and feels substantial, not light and flimsy as you might almost expect at this price point.  The tools fit my needs in a compact package, minus the pliers, which I compensate with the SOG in a separate nylon belt pouch.  The blade and scissors lock into place with a liner lock.  The blade was a bit stiff out of the box, but I lubricated it and played with it, and while it is still firm, it is easily accessible.  Some review videos show reviewers flicking it out one-handed.  I initially tried to loosen the hinge screw, but quickly found out that while it loosened it up, it also off-set the blade when folded back into the handle.  The scissors are large and capable, and I agree that the Swiss Army Knife is the 'gold standard' of multitool scissors.  But I've used them a number of times and they are adequate.  I knew that I was not getting a Leatherman.  But to be honest, I feel I got a lot for my money.  One real plus on this multitool is the special bit-holder with a slotted/Phillips reversible bit.  It is not liner-locked, but it does hold secure.

If I worked in the trades and needed to put exceptional stress on my tools, I'd upgrade.  But for the average person, this tool is more than enough to handle average day-to-day needs.  With the belt clip it's easy to carry, although as the picture below shows, it also includes a belt case.   It is still in the $16 range on Amazon, and I would encourage anyone to check it out: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4DMFR3J?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
